Overview
The EAA requires member states to make online commerce accessible to consumers. It focuses on products and services that are most important to people with disabilities. In Germany, this provision is implemented in the "Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz" (BFSG). The European Accessibility Act must be implemented into national law by all EU countries by June 28, 2025.

Micro-enterprises that provide services are exempt from the law. However, micro-enterprises that place products on the market are covered by the EAA.
The main objective of the law is to remove obstacles and barriers so that persons with disabilities can exercise their right to digital accessibility.
