Frequently asked questions
Since June 28, 2025, digital accessibility has been mandatory under the European Accessibility Act (EAA). Regular accessibility testing helps you avoid fines and warnings by ensuring your web services, PDFs, and digital products meet legal requirements.
At the same time, you reach more users, improve usability for everyone, and benefit from stronger SEO performance. With Eye-Able, you get automated scans, clear action recommendations, and legally compliant documentation — giving you everything you need to prove and maintain your accessibility efforts at any time.
To reliably meet legal accessibility requirements, one method alone isn’t enough. You need a combination of automated tests, user testing, and guided self-tests.
Automated tests deliver quick, repeatable results and cover core technical criteria — such as incorrect HTML, insufficient color contrast, or basic screen reader compatibility. They immediately highlight issues that can often be fixed quickly and form the foundation for ongoing monitoring.
But automation can’t detect everything — which is why user testing is essential. This includes manual tests performed by people with disabilities, reflecting real-life usage and uncovering barriers no software can detect, such as text clarity, meaningful alternative text, logical navigation, or correct focus order. In addition, software-guided tests allow non-experts to perform structured checks without prior knowledge. They lower the entry barrier and help teams find issues that automated tools miss. Together, these methods ensure not only technical compliance but truly accessible usability.
Eye-Able brings all these approaches together in one comprehensive solution. With our testing software, you get fast automated scans, deeper audits based on WCAG 2.0, and legally compliant documentation of all test results. The Accessibility Statement Generator simplifies the required legal statement, while clear action recommendations guide you step by step in removing barriers.
Eye-Able Audit and Eye-Able Report are core components of the Eye-Able Platform — designed to work seamlessly together.
Eye-Able Audit checks individual website pages for accessibility based on multiple criteria, such as text contrast, element accessibility, and page titles. All findings and recommendations appear in the Eye-Able Dashboard, where they can be reviewed, prioritized, and processed further.
Eye-Able Report creates an automated, large-scale assessment by testing at least 250 subpages of a website. Additional manual scans can be triggered as needed, depending on your quota. The scoring is logarithmic: severe issues weigh more heavily than a larger number of minor ones. Individual page scores reflect the accessibility of each subpage, while the overall rating shows the combined result across your entire domain.
In short: Audit gives you a deep, page-by-page analysis, while Report offers a broad evaluation at scale. Together, they deliver a complete result report that consolidates all findings, prioritizes barriers, provides actionable recommendations, and includes legally compliant documentation.
The Eye-Able Platform includes integrated project management features that make the remediation process far more efficient. Detected barriers can be documented directly in the software, prioritized, assigned to the right team members, and tracked through to completion — giving you a structured, transparent workflow for implementing all necessary improvements.
The platform also generates automated reports and detailed documentation of all test results. This makes creating your accessibility statement straightforward and ensures you can clearly demonstrate compliance at any time.
The European Accessibility Act (EAA) applies to most private companies that offer digital products or services to consumers. There are, however, specific exceptions: pure B2B companies that operate exclusively business-to-business are generally not affected, and micro-enterprises with fewer than 10 employees and an annual turnover or balance sheet total under 2 million euros may be exempt under certain conditions.
If you’re unsure whether your organization is affected, we can help clarify your obligations and support you in meeting all relevant accessibility requirements.
You can export reports as PDF, Excel, JSON or CSV files.
